Sergei Fokin is the Ballet Instructor at the International
Ice Centre. He is one of our more senior instructors. Sergei
was born in St. Petersburg, Russia and studied ballet there,
trained in the Vagnova method. This is the system developed
by Mikhail Baryshnikov, Rudolf Nureyev, Natalie Makarova and
George Balanchine. It is the foremost method of teaching ballet
in the world.
Learn and Have Fun
Sergei’s teaching philosophy is in complete alignment
with that of the International Ice Centre. Sergei has a strong
belief that children can learn more and be trained more effectively
if they enjoy what they are doing. His teaching technique combines
discipline with fun. He encourages his students and helps them
to develop a love for dance. He keeps students excited about
learning by varying routines and constantly offering them new
challenges and positive feedback.
Credentials
Sergei graduated from The Conservatory Ballet Academy with
a major in choreography. His 22-year professional career included
roles as principal dancer with the Kirov Theater, Gerbek Ballet
Company and Eifman Ballet Company. He has performed around the

Award Winner.
